Know Your Worth & Implement Energetic Boundaries
There will always be outside forces that will try to cross our boundaries but it is up to us to be assertive and maintain the lines we set for ourselves.
Energetic boundaries are an essential and healthy way to maintain inner balance and harmony with not only yourself but others.
So what are energetic boundaries and how can we implement them?
Energetic boundaries are a form of protection around our energy field, set through intention and visualization. They help us to protect our energy field and keep unwanted things out.
We all have an energy field that is uniquely our own and within that field consists of emotions, desires, wounds, thoughts, and other energies we have allowed to enter this space.
To name a few things: absorbing someone else’s energy; people we are fond of or close to. Places: work, stores, and our house.
We also can absorb energy from conversations, objects, and other spiritual energy.
But what is an energy field? Think of yourself as the Sun within your own mini solar system; each planet represents something rotating within your energy field. What you decide to put into your field will have an affect on you.
Would you invite a chaotic and destructive person into your house? Unlikely, so the same rules apply to your spiritual home; your energy field.
So how can we protect ourselves against unwanted energies from entering this vulnerable sanctuary of ours? We must learn how to create our own energetic boundaries. These are invisible -yet very powerful – forms of protection we receive from our Angels, guides and ourselves.
How we set energetic boundaries?
It starts off with having a firm idea of what you do and do not want in your energy field. When you know what energy you want in your energy field – for example, peacefulness, joy, grounding energy, etc. – the more powerful your energetic boundaries will become.
Next you want to think or say aloud what you want in your field to yourself.
For example, something I would say to myself would be “I am safe. Divine protection surrounds me. I am surrounded by joy and love. I am grounded and centered.
I ask that my Angels and guides please surround me with your love and only allow that which is of the highest good and intention to enter my energy field. I allow myself to receive.
I am grounded in who I am and I trust my intuition. Thank you Angels for protecting me always.”
Affirming who we are helps us strengthen our energy boundaries because they are created from our own true essence.
When you do this speak from your heart and feel the words. This is the time to be creative and make it your own. Authenticity is what makes your boundaries so powerful.
Next, you will want to visualize a protective bubble surrounding you. I am visual person so I always imagine a color that represents protection and love around my body.
I see this color radiating from my heart and my body, eventually forming a bubble around me. Lastly, I visualize that this bubble is completely sealed shut.
Now that I can see this form of protection in my minds eye, I feel a stronger sense of knowing that it is there.
During this process trust yourself and listen to what feels right. Remind yourself that what you are doing is real and it does work; you just have to believe in it.
The best time to do this is right when you get out of bed in the morning. You can do this during a morning mediation or prayer. Personally, I do this multiple times a day, especially when I am feeling anxious or ungrounded.
It takes practice, time, and lots of patience to develop our skills when working with energy but the more we do it the better we will become.
Keep in mind that when we are in stressed and anxious states our defenses lower and this makes us more susceptible for outside forces to our energy field. But do not fret. You can always remove unwanted energy from your field.
When you absorb outside energy – someone else’s sorrow or anger for example – take a deep breath, acknowledge how you feel, and ask yourself if these feelings are your own.
You will know when someone or something has penetrated your field because one moment you are in a great mood and suddenly you feel depressed or heavy just after talking to someone about their recent break up.
That leads us into the importance of staying rooted and grounded in who we are and what we are feeling. When we acknowledge our current thoughts and feelings we are better able to recognize when we have absorbed things that are not our own.
This all takes practice so be patient with yourself. The best way to improve setting energetic boundaries for yourself is to do things that make you happy and uplift your spirit. This grounds you into who you are and thus you will find it way easier to assert your boundaries.
Remember to have fun with this and ask for help. Your higher self, that intuition, is always there to support and guide you.
There will be times when we find it more difficult to use this form of protection because we feel detached from ourselves.
