Step Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Dipping your toes into cold water is like stepping outside of your comfort zone. It is shocking and can be very unpleasant.
On the other hand, when we step outside of this warm and fuzzy place we allow ourselves to grow and develop in ways we never expected. Through this process we learn how to develop new coping mechanisms, talents, and positive ways of thinking.
In addition to obtaining new skills, we also learn about who we are in a variety of ways. How do we deal with stress and anxiety? The challenges we face will help us become more aware of our confidence and internal strength.
We can surprise ourselves with all we are capable of when we give ourselves a chance to grow. The things we learn about ourselves are like hidden gems and it only takes a little digging to discover their beauty.
We all have various things that we are being guided to do, – for the greater good of ourselves and the world – so how can we give ourselves the motivation and mental courage to keep moving forward?
For starters, we can practice things that make us feel safe and secure in who we are. When I am feeling completely out of my comfort zone – either because I am stepping into a new area of my life – energetically or physically – I like to talk to myself. I tell myself that everything is going to be okay.
When I start to spiral in doubt I will say, “Aiyana, everything is going to be okay. I love you. You are safe and keep up the good work. This is all a learning and growing experience. Keep doing your best and trust the process. You are so loved.” This helps the perfectionist and the ego within me take a break and allows my higher self to step in; leading me into the light.
It is easy for our thoughts to become anxious and out of control when we are trying something new or have zero experience in. Our minds can think the worst and tell us to quit because we feel uncomfortable.
But when we acknowledge these thoughts and feelings for what they are, it gives us space to transform them into something new.
You can replace these self sabotaging thoughts with loving and kind ones instead. Anytime you have a mean or negative thought towards yourself, quickly replace it with a warm and kind one. It takes practice but in time you will have thoughts that come from a place a love and that uplift you.
Our thoughts create the way we view ourselves, our work, the activities we do, and how we see the world. When our thoughts are kind and loving we can be the best versions of ourselves and find the courage to step up into a higher state of being; reconnecting with the Higher Self.
Part of stepping out of your comfort zone means learning to trust your intuition. When we are put in new situations or places, we must learn to rely on our instincts rather than our thinking minds.
This is important because we will not always know what to do but when we allow our intuition to take the reins, we can lead ourselves through things we have never experienced before.
Our intuition is the connection we have to our Higher Self – the energetic part of yourself that is in vibration with love, harmony, and flow – and this part of you is always leading you to success, joy, and positive development.
Think of your intuition as a lantern in a dark tunnel. You may not be able to see very well but you know that you have your lantern to guide you through the dark.
Something else you can do during this time of unease is practice things that bring you joy and that also ground you. You can play an instrument, paint, dance, sing, etc.
Doing activities that we enjoy bring us closer to our Spirit – the energy that makes up who we are beyond a physical level – and when we allow ourselves become in tune with this energy we can find a stronger connection and knowing of self.
So when we deepen the relationship we have with ourselves, we will begin to find it easier to express and try new things outside of our comfort zone. We are all learning to trust ourselves and the process is not always easy but it will put us into full alignment with our life path and discovering our own personal truth.
In order to trust ourselves, we need to learn and listen to our inner voice; the Higher Self. I have a reading that is designed to help you transform into your own power and express your true natural gifts and talents.
In this reading we examine:
